Influenster Sugar ‘N Spice Voxbox 2013 !!!

I was so excited when I got this! It was jam-packed with SO MUCH. Look at all that up there! A lot of these I’ve been planning to buy and try on my own, so here’s my reviews!

• Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture lotion spray - This was the very first thing I tried, not even a full minute after I opened the box. “Oooh look!” I said. Spray, spray, arms, legs, rub rub rub. It’s not what I expected, it’s got a really dry finish and it doesn’t weigh on your skin like cream lotion does. It’s more like the feeling of having showered with a moisturizing body wash than having slathered your skin with lotion. The application is the biggest selling point, it goes on so quickly. And the scent is so nice, it’s a little bit tropical and reminds me of tanning lotion. 
• NECTRESSE natural zero-calorie sweetener (derived from monk fruit!) - I think it’s because I’m so into drinking tea that I’m also totally into the different things you can use to sweeten tea. So when I saw that I’d been sent a WHOLE BOX of this stuff, I was elated! When I go for a low- or no-calorie sweetener, Splenda’s been my choice. I’ve always liked how neutral it tastes; sugar and honey have their own flavor to add, other no-calorie sweeteners do too in a bad way. Splenda, though, is just what you’re drinking + sweet. Before I poured a packet in my tea, I dipped my finger in to taste it straight up. It had a nice, bright but not overpowering slightly fruity taste, similar to mango. It didn’t make my tea taste fruity but it did imbue a slight extra flavor (like raw sugar does). This is the true ~sugar experience~ imo. No other no-calorie sweetener adds that subtle extra like this does.
• Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes - First reaction: I thought the box was pretty and the way the product was presented as ~natural~ skin care was nice, but the fact that it was just a moist towelette in witch hazel kind of bored me. I’d used witch hazel in the past and was kind of “meh” about it. BUT then I tried it and was very impressed! I’d used witch hazel as an astringent for blemishes but never like this! The box recommends its use as a mid-day refresher for your face to wipe away dirt and control oil. It stood up to those words exactly! I wiped my mid-day face with the towelette, it was cool and refreshing and had that nice familiar scent of witch hazel. The rest of the day, my face felt fresh and clean.
• Colgate Optic White Regimen including Toothpaste, Mouthwash, and Toothbrush - WOW! This impressed me the most because WOW they sent me the FULL OPTIC WHITE LINE to try! I tried it out this morning, first thing. I have to say that these sort of products are not what I usually go for. I’m typically more worried about my enamel than I am about white teeth (though maybe I should, after drinking all that tea lol). I’m also not usually into the fancy toothbrushes with rubber flippers and tongue raspers and such. Given that, I thought the toothbrush was actually really nice! I’d never used a brush that had the cheek and tongue cleaner on the back and it does feel nice while you brush! I also felt the little cups in the middle of the brush getting all around my teeth. I especially felt it in the back of my teeth, which is an important area  you don’t want to miss! The toothpaste I might have to get used to. It had a bit of peppermint but mostly it tasted kind of mediciney. It’s worth it if it does its job of whitening, but ugh I wasn’t digging the taste. Finally, the mouthwash…. was kind of weird. I liked that it wasn’t antiseptic and didn’t burn my mouth in that way. But, like they tell you on the bottle, it foams up in your mouth. The foaming feelings was nice, though. And you can really feel the hydrogen peroxide, in the foaming and I felt it stinging a sore on the roof of my mouth while I swished. When I spit, it was all white foam and it coated my mouth. I had to rinse with a little water because it was all over my mouth and tongue. I’m totally going to continue with all 3 and I’ll look forward to checking for results, but I don’t think I’d buy this. It’s just not my thing.
• belVita Breakfast Biscuits - I’ve been wanting to try these for so long! It sounded like the absolute perfect thing to fit into my routine. A breakfast food that I could easily grab and go and eat on my way that doesn’t need to be prepared, has enough bulk and complex carbs to keep me full, but isn’t sticky or messy (I’m looking at you, Nature Valley Granola bars!). These were easy to eat, didn’t leave crumbs everywhere, and they were very tasty! Not too sweet, nice and mellow; a comforting taste. And they’d go perfect with coffee or tea. They’re very VERY similar to tea biscuits.

Keep our spirits up, fight the boredom of the road, and you can’t say one fucking thing just in the way of conversation.”

FINALLY getting around to posting this!

I was super excited when I got this in the mail, and even more excited when I got it open and saw what I’d been sent! How cool, right? So here’s my reviews on this great swag.

• Ghirardelli Gourmet Milk Sea Salt Escape chocolate bar - I scarfed this down right away. Of course, it’s Ghirardelli chocolate! It didn’t stand a chance. I’d heard about salt sprinkles + chocolate but was never compelled enough to try it. It’s really interesting! The salt wakes up a taste in the chocolate you wouldn’t get otherwise! And there were almond piece in this bar too, which made the texture perfect.
• Gilette Venus Embrace 5 blade razor - I have to say, I have disliked Venus razors in the past; the blade cartridge always fell off constantly while I was using it. I am happy to report that this is not the case with this one. It stayed on the whole time, was really sturdy, and you get a lot of use out of one razor cartridge. The shave lasts really long and it makes you skin soft.  What more could you ask for?
• Pilot Frixion eraseable pen - I love these pens. I’ve tried them before. A fellow crafter told me about them and how perfect they are for transferring designs onto surfaces you’re going to paint, stitch, draw, etc. This is not any eraseable pen you’ve used before; this one ACTUALLY WORKS. The ink is like dry erase marker type stuff where it kind of crumbles away when you use the rubber eraser end and leaves no mark behind at all. 
• Bath & Body Works forever Red eau de parfume - I’m really picky when it comes to smelly stuff I put on myself. This is a good smell. It’s not sickly sweet or too floral, it’s got a lot of really interesting notes. It’s got a lot of rosey scent and a little hint of must, definitely not too sweet.
